Chapter 14: Shattered

Elsa

"Miss. Winter? Miss. Winter?" I hear as I slowly start to open my eyes and lift up my head. In front of me is an older looking women with salt and pepper hair and thin glasses on, she kind of looked like my history teacher Mrs. Lee. "Where... Where am I?" I ask as I hear people start to giggle, I look around to see, I'm in a classroom, a classroom I know with students I know. I hear a sigh in front of me making me look back at the Mrs. Lee look alike. "Miss. Winter, if you didn't fall asleep you would of learned some fantastic things about World War II, but you decided to go to La La Land again." I start to slowly sink in my seat; I was really back in class. Did I just dream what happened? "Sorry Mrs. Lee." I whisper.

I was waiting for her to yell at me again but she just rolled her brown eyes and walked back to the front of the room. "Since Miss. Winter fell asleep and missed everything, will someone please catch her up and give her your notes?" Mrs. Lee asks as she goes to her desk and puts her hands on it, scanning the room. "I will Mrs. Lee!" I hear as I look to the left to see my eyes widen and my heart start to beat out of my chest, Phil James' hand was in the air and his green eyes locked on me. "Thank you Mr. James." Mrs. Lee says right as the bell rings and everyone starts to pack up and leave. "Remember to read chapter 5 for your pop quiz tomorrow." I hear Mrs. Lee yell as I run out of the room.

I keep my books close to my chest and move my free hand and touch my hair, it was in a tight pony with a head band around it. I look down at my clothes to see I'm wearing a sundress. Everything was different about me, and I was so confused, how could I forget I was in school? Or what I was wearing? I shake my head as I reach my locker, that dream was so realist, the labyrinth, the girl, the goblins and worse... the boy. I felt my heart beat faster, was I really falling for a silly dream? I sigh as I put my books in my locker and close it to see Phil looking at me.

"Hey Elsa." He says with a side smile. I cross my arms and push a piece of hair out of my face and look down, "Hey Phil..." I whisper, was I dreaming again? Was Phil James really standing in front of me, looking at me? I look up a little to see his blonde hair is hanging over his eyes and his green eyes are looking extra green today, for some reason, I felt like he was in my dream too but with longer hair, not short and shaggy like it is now. "Are you busy? I thought we could go outside and I could give you my notes and maybe... Talk?" He asks rubbing his neck.

"Umm... Are you sure you want to do that?" I ask which just makes him give me a confusing look, "Why wouldn't I? I've wanted to talk to you more since that party last week, remember?" He asks. How could I forget? I got in trouble by it. How did my parents find out about it again? I thought to myself as I feel someone touch my arm. I look to see Phil grabbing my arm and smiling again, "Come on, I promise I don't bite." He says, the way he is looking at me is so hypnotic. I couldn't look away so I just nod, "I... I guess it couldn't hurt." I say as he starts to pull me to the courtyard.

The courtyard has always been my favorite place at the school; it was quiet and peaceful with tons of trees and flowers. My favorite was right by the fountain, to me, it was the best place to either read or do homework. For some reason today, no one was in the courtyard; it was like everyone just didn't want to go there or something, something felt off. We sit at the fountain and Phil starts to take out his notebook and hands me his notes, "Here, you can just give them back to me tomorrow." He says as I grab his notebook, our fingers brushing together. I quickly pull back feeling my cheeks get red.

"Sorry..." I whisper and put the notebook by the fountain so I can have my full attention on Phil. "It's okay, I like touching you." He says as he rubs his fingertips softly down my arm, giving me shivers down my spine. I do an awkward giggle and push back a little, as much as I liked him touching me too, something wasn't right and I just... Wasn't the feeling the same way as he was for me. "Everything alright?" He asks noticing my distances. I nod, "Yeah... I think I just need to walk for a while, you know, wake up after that little nap I had in class." I say as I start to stand up. Phil joins me, "How about I walk with you and you can tell me about your little dream you had." He says as he takes my hand and pulls me to start walking.
